THE EPISTLE LESSON: Colossians 1:1-14
The Apostle Paul praises God for the evidence of faith that is seen in the Colossian Christians by their acts of love for others. He prays that the knowledge of God’s will and His wisdom and spiritual understanding may increase that they may walk worthy of the Lord in every kind of good work, and increasing in the knowledge of the truth that saves. This should be our prayer, first for ourselves then also for our Christian brothers and sisters. It is good and necessary for us to remain in the Word that we might grow in faith and love, and in all good works.

THE OLD TESTAMENT LESSON: Deuteronomy 30:9-14
It is the work of God the Holy Spirit that we abound in doing that which is according to His will. With this God is well pleased. But how are we to know the will of God? It isn’t some great hidden mystery! His will for us and our lives is found in His Word. Indeed it is found in our heart and on our lips as we speak of the love of God in Christ. Knowing this love of God we shall also know how to love one another.
