THE GOSPEL LESSON: Luke 20:27 – 38
People still try to ridicule the hope of the resurrection. Jesus settled the question with the truth of everlasting life which we have through faith in Him. It is only by faith that we shall “be counted worthy to attain that age and the resurrection from the dead.” God is not the God of the dead but of the living. So even as we now live in hope of the resurrection, so we shall live in glory forever before the Lord.
THE OLD TESTAMENT LESSON: Isaiah 65:17-25
The fall into sin brought much grief and pain, and death into the world. God promises a new heavens and a new earth that will give us cause for joy and rejoicing. We have this joy because this new world will be built upon the salvation that is in Christ Jesus. So then there will be no more weeping. The will no longer be death or any of the frustrations that death brings to our lives. There will be peace and harmony in this new creation, as well as perfect peace and harmony between us and our God.
