THE EPISTLE LESSON: 1 Corinthians 1:26-29
We are reminded that “not many” of the wise or powerful or noble of this world are found among those who are saved. The mighty of the world are more often found among those who are humbled by God, who are put to shame by the foolishness of the gospel. God has chosen the weak and the common and those things the world despises, these God has chosen for His grace and salvation, “that no flesh should glory in His sight.”
THE OLD TESTAMENT LESSON: Isaiah 2:2-5
Isaiah’s foretells the coming of the Lord and how His coming would reveal the glory and majesty of the Lord. Many will come from all the nations to learn of the ways of the Lord, to see His justice and to learn of His peace. So the Spirit has called us to come to the mountain of the Lord, that we might have forgiveness and life in Christ. Even as we possess peace with God through Christ, so we also watch for the Lord’s coming and the eternal peace that He will bring. “Come let us walk in the light of the Lord.”
