THE EPISTLE LESSON: Romans 10:12-21
There is no distinction between Jew and Gentile. “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (v.13). However, people cannot believe and worship a God they do not know. The need continues for the message to go out to the ends of the earth! Faith comes by hearing, and not simply hearing what somebody else thinks might be true, but by hearing the Word of God. Only God’s Word reveals the saving truth of Jesus as our Savior from sin and death.

THE OLD TESTAMENT LESSON: Deuteronomy 6:1-9
The terms commandments, statutes and judgments all sound harsh and legal to us, but God’s justice is tempered by His grace which comes to us in Christ, who is revealed to us in His inspired Word. We are to remain diligent in searching the Scriptures and teaching them to our children that we may know the truth of God that brings us salvation. There is only one true God. It is the Lord, the covenant God who is the God of our salvation. We need to serve the Lord with all our hearts, all our souls, and all our strength, for He is our life.
