THE EPISTLE LESSON: Acts 11:19-26
While persecution caused Christians to scatter to the corners of the earth it did not silence them. Wherever they went they preached Jesus. The hand of the Lord was with them and many believed. So it continues to this day. Even in the face of persecution Christians testify and a great many people are added to the Lord.
THE GOSPEL LESSON: John 4:27-42
Immediately after meeting Jesus the Samaritan woman had to share her news that Jesus the Christ was there with them. Jesus saw the crowds coming out of the town as a mission field ripe for harvest. They heard the Lord and believed that Jesus is the Savior of the world. So we also should look at the crowds of lost people in this world and see mission fields ripe for harvest, knowing the gospel is the power through which the Spirit calls his elect to salvation.
