THE ORDER OF SERVICE: p. 5 (38:1-3)
HYMNS: 748; 250; 243; 644
THE EPISTLE LESSON: Acts 4:1-12
Peter and John were bold in proclaiming Christ as our crucified and risen Savior. They told the Jewish counsel that it was the power of Jesus that healed the lame man, and that there is salvation in none other than Christ alone. Jesus is the only name by which we must be saved.

THE GOSPEL LESSON: Matthew 5:1-6
Jesus addressed these words of the Sermon on the Mount to disciples who came and assembled before Him. We are then right to understand that these are words regarding our spiritual state before the Lord. We are blessed if we are poor in spirit, that we humble ourselves before the Lord and mourn our sin, for we shall then be comforted, and by His grace be brought into the kingdom of God. Being meek isn’t the way of the world, but the Lord brings us to love others in their need, knowing our inheritance is in a new earth. If we seek righteousness from the Lord we shall be filed with the righteousness of Christ.
