THE GOSPEL LESSON: John 6:60-69
There have always been teachings that the world has considered “hard sayings,” especially that truth that Jesus is the only way to eternal life. So it continues that many eventually turn away from the Lord and follow Him no more. Jesus asks, “Will you also go away?”
THE OLD TESTAMENT LESSON: Joshua 24:15-18
Shall we follow the gods in the world around us? Many others seem to think that is the way to go. Or shall we serve the LORD? Today is a day for all of us to confirm the covenant we have with our Savior God, and say with Joshua, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!” However, we need to recognize with Joshua that we cannot do this on our own. We would bring God’s wrath upon ourselves. By God’s grace and power we remain faithful to Him.
