THE EPISTLE LESSON: Romans 10:1-12
Paul earnest desire for his fellow Jews was that they be saved. However most of them held fast to the law for righteousness and refused to submit the righteousness of God. We also should be zealous for the salvation of our fellow Americans. We may also see people in America clinging to their own attempts to live a good life as their righteousness and hope of heaven, refusing to submit to the gospel of grace. Proclaim Christ’s righteousness with the prayer that the Holy Spirit work in the hearts of all who hear.

THE GOSPEL LESSON: Luke 4:14-22
Jesus returned to His hometown to proclaim the gospel, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. Jesus came to His own people and they refused to believe because they saw Him to be simply Joseph’s son, and why should they listen to someone no greater than themselves? Let us not be looking for the wise or powerful of this world to lead us into truth and life, but rather let us humbly hear the Word of the Lord.
