THE OLD TESTAMENT LESSON: Numbers 21:4-9
It is so easy to become discouraged in this pilgrimage of life, even as the Children of Israel did. It is a serious sin to turn against God. Sin brings death. However from this occasion we learn of the importance of repentance. The Lord instructed Moses to make a bronze serpent and put it on a pole. All who looked to the serpent did not die. So Jesus was raised up on the cross that all who look to His cross in faith might be delivered from skin and death.
